Think of the previews you see before a movie. When you see the previews of coming attractions, you get a peek at small vignettes in order to prepare you and entice you to want to see the whole movie. By watching the preview you find out who the main characters are, what type of movie it is (comedy, action, science fiction, drama, etc.), and you get a general sense of what the movie is about.
