Learning-Focused Lessons MicroPD Course 7: Activating Strategies

Think About it Copy

A 3rd grader went home from school excited about what he had learned that day. His teacher had let the students know that they would be reading informational text about guerrilla fighters during the Vietnam War to go along with a story about war in the literature book they would also be reading. The class was told that the informational text was a true story. The boy shared his excitement about the upcoming lesson with his parents and wanted his family to plan a vacation to Vietnam so they could see the gorillas that sneak around in the jungles and fight with real guns.

How could this teacher have prevented this misconception from happening?
