11. General Guidelines for Visual Learning Support

Students need to be able to easily find resources.

Placing items in a consistent location helps students know exactly where to look to find the information they need.

Students need an unrestricted view of visuals.

Is the display easy to read from any location in the room? Think about students’ eye level when positioning displays.

Check the size and organization of print.

Can the print be seen from anywhere in the classroom?
Does the background make the print difficult to read?

Think carefully about laminating display materials.

The glare can make them difficult to read.

Think about location, location, location!

What is the “prime real estate” used for? What are students looking at when you are teaching?
