Increasing the Rigor of Learning-Focused Lessons MicroPD Course 5: Higher Order Thinking Processes

12. Coming Soon!

After each process is demonstrated by modeling and thinking aloud using the car buying example, you will have the opportunity to practice the process for yourself with a new scenario — how to plan a vacation.

For example, you will need to…

  1. determine possible locations to visit (Generating Ideas)
  2. research the best times of year to go to each one (Investigation/Research)
  3. determine your specific vacation preferences (Experimenting)
  4. determine how to make everyone happy who is traveling with you (Problem Solution)
  5. make the decision about where to go and justify why it is the best choice (Decision Making).

Again, it is important that you practice each process using familiar content so that you may focus on understanding how to apply the steps of the process, as well as use the graphic organizer to help support your thinking.
