PREVIEWING-STRATEGIESPreviewing Strategies: Practices for Catching Struggling Students Up introduces a proactive model for integrating research-based strategies and Exemplary Practices with learning research to support struggling students and accelerate their learning.

The vision of having all students meet or exceed rigorous, grade- level standards requires teachers to use a proactive planning process and specific instructional strategies to address the varied needs of all students for meeting those standards. An important practice for accelerating student learning is Previewing. Previewing before lessons provides struggling students with the experiences and background knowledge they need to be successful during grade-level lessons.
